You’ve got questions. We’ve got answers.

Where does the name Kelvin come from?

Kelvin is named after Lord Kelvin (aka William Thomson, 1st Baron Kelvin) and the Kelvin temperature scale which was named in his honor. As you may remember from high school science class, “absolute zero” is defined as 0 K on the Kelvin scale and is the theoretical temperature at which all molecular motion ceases. Lord Kelvin is widely known for determining correct value of absolute zero as approximately −273.15 degree Celsius or −459.67 degree Fahrenheit.

Yes, that was an awesome day.

What are the Vendy Awards?

Called “the Oscars of food for the real New York” by Chef Mario Batali, the Vendy Awards are New York City’s annual competition for the title of Best Street Food Vendor. The Vendy Awards are also a fundraiser to support the Street Vendor Project of the Urban Justice Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that we are big believers in and that provides a voice for the thousands of people who sell food and merchandise on the streets of our city.
